   A typical Marketing Strategy from site conception to on going testing is defined below:
  1. Describe what purpose you are intending for your new/existing site. What product/service/information will you be delivering?
     
  2. Decide on the domain name and hosting company and what country you want the hosting company to be in.
     
  3. Research the current market for your product/service and see what the competition looks like in term of:
    • Keyword phrases used
    • website structure
    • Content
    • External links
    • Blog
    • Forums
       
  4. Conduct a comprehensive keywords analysis on the major search engines to see what people are actually using on when searching for your product/service.
     
  5. From point 4 above, choose between 2-3 keywords per page and optimise that page, focusing on;
    • Title tag
    • Anchor text of links
    • Keyword use in page text
    • Accessibility of page
    • Links to page from site internal pages
    • Primary subject matter of site
    • External links to linking pages
    • Link popularity of site in topical community
    • Global link popularity of site
    • Keyword spamming
       
  6. Content - Make sure that the content on the site fits with the keywords you are using and that you are offering some value to visitors. Always try to look at why  someone would be visiting your site. What intention was behind the query they used to find you? Your content should answer their implicit question that lies within the query.
     
  7. After submitting the site - ideally through a link from another site - sit back a wait. Be patient, it takes 3-6 months to see results from a new site. Updating existing sites should show results much faster - as quick as under one week - depending on the timing of the search engine spiders.
     
  8. Analyse web logs to see if some new keyword phrases are being used to find you and work them into your site.
