Vblogging to traffic

I've come across a new site recently (new to me anyway!) Rocketboom , where the only content is video blogs on current and not so current affairs.

It a fantastic example of using a new a medium to get your message across.

Its a new medium, but still is reliant on people to make to work, but the difference in cost of producing these video blogs to creating a similar video for TV must be huge?

All you need is a web cam and away you go!

Question - are pod casts as effective as vblogs?

Depends on whose behind the camera...

which engines are better crawlers?

Update from the 301 updates...
It takes 6-8 weeks for Google to pick up these updates and for its index to fully reflect the changes.
MSN and Yahoo, without needing any 301 re-directs, are constantly picking up new updates and showing the results in the index in less than a week

How relevant are Google's results when it takes this long to refresh its index?
John Battelle's blog talk about this issue in terms of index size and relevance and the battle between Yahoo and Google.

For me, if Yahoo or MSN serve up the same quality of results (with more updated information), then for me they are more relevant.

301 redirect

I had some problems with Google indexing new pages for me this week.

I have changed (about 4 months ago) from using .aspx to .html. As I have only now started to look at my sites indexing on a more regular basis I noticed that Google was still picking up my old .aspx pages and refused to index my new .html pages.
Anyway, after reading through some forums and talking to my hosting provider, I got the following two resources that explained everything I needed to know about a 301 redirect.

http://forums.digitalpoint.com/archive/index.php/how-to-301-redirect-url-with-20-in-it/t-10040.html

http://www.isitebuild.com/301-redirect.htm

A 301 redirect is when you tell the search engine spider to look for your new files as opposed to the old one that it is still indexing.

Aparently, it will take Google about 6-8 weeks to updated the new pages in its index.
I have no similar problems with MSN or Yahoo.
btw, would recommedn checking out http://del.icio.us/ - see when you think!

How to make money on the internet!!

Here's what I've learned from copious readig over the last year;

1.Create a online presence in a niche market, something that you are very good at
2. Work to increase your online credability by providing content that other people actually want to syndicate.
3. Once you have the audience, install Google Adsense
4. Build information products onto your webiste

and that's it!! really simple but takes a lot of hard work and deadication if you are to build that all important reputation.

Domain name differences

Just doing some analysis on keyword phrases that are targeted at one particular country. The URL though is from another country. Google seems to really penalise this senario, i.e. for example a .de extension optimising for keyword phrase with uk in it. I am seeing that you can rank highly in Google.com but for say Google.co.uk, unless you have a .com or .co.uk (or .gov) you can forget about a high ranking.

SEO Book

I bought The SEO Book http://www.seobook.com yesterday, based mainly on the testimonials from searchenginewatch.
Read the first 50 pages and it's all pretty much common sense so far. The claim is to increase your traffic by 3 in 3 months, so I'll let you know how http://www.searchcreations.com fairs
